St Anne’s College
Client: Oxford University
Location: Oxford
Project Scope: Mixed use
Project Status: Complete

Chris Sutton was the Partner responsible for the design work for St Anne’s, aiming to build upon the distinctive character of the college in the context of significant works by Giles Gilbert Scott set in magnificent mature gardens. The proposal anticipates future requirements and reinforces earlier masterplanning.

A revised college frontage to Woodstock Road recreates a generous entrance court and reveals the previously hidden Grade II Listed Hartland House by Gilbert Scott. Built work includes a new multi-purpose building that relieves pressure on the existing library and provides new academic facilities. A new kitchen building facilitates the removal of temporary cabins, restoring views over the gardens from the fully refurbished dining hall.
